Alan Obringer, RPh, CPh, CGP

President

Alan has been president since opening in 2017. His extensive 23-year pharmacy career includes nine years with the Senior Care Pharmacy in Lakeland; 12 years in community pharmacy for CVS/pharmacy, seven as a Florida district pharmacy supervisor; and several years as at Walgreens’ pharmacy manager in Pinellas County, Florida.

Licensed as a consultant pharmacist, since 2002, Alan is on faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. He teaches Geriatrics, Introduction to Pharmacy and Healthcare Pharmacy Skills Lab and Pharmacotherapeutics. A Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, he serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students, offering a Geriatric and Long-term Care practice site.

A member of the Florida Pharmacy Association, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Alan is a strong advocate for the profession of pharmacy in long-term care and is very involved in the changes that affect our industry. Alan’s diverse experience and professional involvement makes him uniquely qualified to aid our customers in achieving the highest level of clinical outcomes while reducing costs for our residents. Alan earned his pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Melissa Mahan, PharmD, MBA

Director of Pharmacy Operations

As lead the company’s pharmacy operations, Melissa is responsible for our customers serviced out of Orlando. She passionately supports the pharmacy’s ongoing purpose to provide exceptional customized service to meet the needs of our partner communities so that they can focus on the comfort, safety and quality of life of their residents.

Melissa inherently understands that the customer is the single most valuable asset an organization can have and is driven by the unrelenting pursuit of customer-driven focus, ideals and user experience.

In her previous role with CVS Health for 20 years, she served as District Leader in the local market. Mahan was responsible for the company’s increasing evolvement in making community healthcare accessible and affordable. This included a significant focus on team development and program execution.

Mahan holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida.

Outside of caring for her customers and associates, Melissa is entertained by her husband, their 6 children and 3 dogs. Together, they enjoy reading, cooking, playing soccer and spending time on a pontoon boat.

Michael Samarkos, PharmD, CPh

Regional Director of Clinical and Consultant Services

Michael has more than 20 years of experience in pharmacy. He began working in the community setting first for Eckerd Drugs then CVS/Pharmacy as a pharmacy manager in Pinellas County. He transitioned to clinical pharmacy 11 years ago joining the Baycare Health System with Morton Plant Hospital. In addition, he also worked at Florida Hospital North Pinellas as a clinical pharmacist. During this time, he honed his clinical knowledge and practice skills to assist patients in the hospital setting, as well as practitioners with medication selection, dosing guidelines, and clinical medication management.

In 2008, Michael was licensed as a consultant pharmacist and applied his clinical knowledge working as a consultant while continuing hospital practice. In the clinical setting, Michael was a preceptor for 3rd and 4th year University of South Florida pharmacy students and continues to work with them in the long- term care setting.

Michael earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Nova Southeastern College of Pharmacy and is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. He works daily to expand the role of pharmacists and is especially interested in the pharmacist’s role in the transitional care setting.

Carol Craig

Director of Finance and Administration

Carol has more than 18 years in long-term care pharmacy and has served in almost every department in the pharmacy including data entry, billing and operations making her an invaluable part of the Orlando team. When asked what she likes about working with Guardian, Carol stated: “Guardian Pharmacy Orlando gives me the opportunity to provide the customer service we all strive to give. They empower me to solve situations and build lasting relationships with our customers. It is very personal!”

Prior to 2003, she worked as Area Manager for a courier company that cared for all the Florida LTC pharmacies and spent another 13 years as Director of Operations for McClane Food Distribution.

When not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband of 30 years. Carol loves gardening, watching baseball and has a knack for turning barnyard finds into unique usable items.

Jill Daly, BA

Director of Sales and Marketing

Jill is the Director of Sales & Marketing and has a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care industry for over 25 years, with the last 9 years in long-term care. Jill has extensive background in customer service, business development and pharmacy operations and enjoys building relationships with her customers.

She began working in community mental health after graduating from University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and transitioned from the clinical role to sales and marketing. Prior to joining Guardian in 2017, she was the Director of Sales and Marketing for Senior Care Pharmacy of Florida.

Born in Lakeland, Florida, she currently lives with her husband of 23 years and their 2 sons. They enjoy spending time with family at the beach and boating.
